Hi! I’m Max Alperstein, a Jewish Latino senior living in New York City. My incredible mother adopted me when I was just nine months old, and we’ve shared a single-parent household filled with love and resilience. She’s my hero and the strongest person I know, guiding me through life’s challenges with unwavering strength.

 

Growing up in a tight-knit Jewish community, I always cherished the values and traditions instilled in me. Yet, I often felt caught between my American, Guatemalan, and Jewish identities. It was as if I belonged everywhere and nowhere simultaneously—feeling pulled apart by the different cultures and places that shaped me.

 

Like Richard Blanco captures in his poem "Como Tú":

 

"Como tú, I’m also from the lakes and farms, waterfalls and prairies of another country I can’t fully claim either."

 

These words resonate with me deeply. I, too, come from different worlds—each meaningful in its own way—but none that I can fully call my own. Growing up, the feeling of being “in-between” was confusing, often leaving me silenced or diminished. I didn’t know where I fit.

 

But over time, I realized that the key to navigating these complexities was to embrace them and find my voice within the chaos. I discovered that no one can fight for you like you can. Using my voice became my greatest tool for self-expression, and that’s what led me to create Fearless Interventions.

 

Fearless Interventions is my podcast and creative outlet, where I explore my thoughts, experiences, and identity while connecting with inspiring voices from the Jewish world. It’s a space where I can speak freely after years of feeling like I had to stay silent. Podcasting gave me the microphone I needed to share my story and listen to the stories of others. Through this platform, I’ve begun to stitch together the different pieces of my identity, forming something stronger and more complete.

 

Beyond podcasting, I’m passionate about music, acapella, graphic design, and video editing. All of these passions come to life in Fearless Interventions, where you’ll find not only my voice but my creativity woven throughout. I’m young and still learning as I go, but that’s the beauty of this journey—both as a podcaster and a person.
